Space Qualified IMUs and Rate Sensors

For the past three decades, Honeywell has engineered and manufactured high-performance and industry-leading, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and ring laser gyro (RLG) based inertial measurement units (IMUs).

 

To support the demanding navigation and control needs of an increasingly sophisticated Space industry, Honeywell is offering space-grade versions of their venerable HG1700 IMU and HG4930 rate sensors.

 

Over half a million HG1700s have been delivered across scores of aerospace applications around the world.  Now the proven HG1700 IMU is available for space applications.  Honeywell designed and qualified a space-grade HG1700 meeting space launch and mission requirements for not only temperature, shock and vibration but also for pressure, accelerations, radiation and safety.

 

Honeywell also offers a small-satellite, space-grade rate sensor, the HG4934SRS.  The HG4934SRS follows a strict part selection and management plan that ensures the HG4934SRS achieves guaranteed TID and SEE radiation performance.  The qualified design incorporates additional features that make it suited for use in Space such as sensor technology insensitive to helium exposure, mitigation of floating metal, and SEFI/SEU mitigation features.
