Naval Life Jacket
The life jacket is made from two-ply yellow nylon cloth rubberized with neoprene and stored in a compact nylon pouch supported by a strong waist belt. In an emergency, the upper section is easily removed from the pouch, pulled over the wearer's head, and inflated. It has two independent buoyancy chambers, ensuring flotation even if one is damaged. This feature led the Israeli Navy to choose Magam Safety as the sole supplier of its naval life jackets.
Life Vest Description
The buoyancy chambers are inflated by a carbon-dioxide cylinder with a manually operated head. Oral inflation is available for maximum buoyancy if the mechanism fails, with two oral-inflation tubes and valves near the wearer's mouth. A water-actuated battery with a light assembly operates upon immersion, lasting six hours for visibility in the dark. A non-corrosive plastic whistle is attached to an elastic loop on the buoyancy chamber for attracting rescuers.
The pouch is made from navy blue nylon, closed by press fasteners and Velcro straps. The waist belt, made of 1.75-inch wide nylon webbing, supports the pouch and has a slide adjuster for fitting. A one-inch wide navy blue lifting loop on the waist belt allows the wearer to be lifted out of the water.
